Here are some of the highlights of his typical da- He wakes up at 7 a.m. and skips breakfast. He says he doesn't have time for it and prefers to drink coffee instead.

- He spends an hour reading and responding to emails. He says he gets about 500 emails a day and tries to answer at least half of them.

- He drives to work in one of his Tesla cars, which he often tests for new features and updates. He says he likes to listen to podcasts or audiobooks on his way.

- He splits his time between his four companies, spending about 80% of his time on engineering and design. He says he likes to be involved in every detail of his projects and often works with his teams until late at night.

- He eats lunch at his desk, usually a salad or a sandwich. He says he doesn't have a favorite food and eats whatever is convenient.

- He takes a nap for 20 minutes in the afternoon. He says he needs it to recharge his energy and stay focused.
